I am not a Japanese car fan but I must say that this car I can respect. The only 2 Japanese cars i actually respect from personal preferance is the Supra and the RX-7. But I must say gr8 job on this Car.
- Silverphoenix on Sunday, October 27, 2002
|
I think this car is very capable of getting into the 9's. The 800TT and the Lingenfelter Vette and this supra would all be pretty equally matched IMO. But u have to keep in mind this supra is a full weight car. Its pretty much show car quality, and for a show car to possibly run 9's on the right setup is incredible.
- an0therlvl on Tuesday, October 29, 2002
|
all i can say is that this car is one sweet ass ride! love it! great job on the car Mark. u are one good tuner.
- importguy on Wednesday, October 30, 2002
|
oh in addition, i love the license plate ;) im sure this car scares the shit outta the Viper guys.
- importguy on Wednesday, October 30, 2002
|
Tozer's car is very nice, but the poor bald guy can't drive. He should have been running 9's a long time ago. Sad...
- FYRARMS on Thursday, October 31, 2002
|
What you going on about,id like to see you try and pull 9's in that car.
- gis on Thursday, October 31, 2002
|
I would love to try, thanks! Being a single turbo MKIV Supra owner, I am VERY familiar with their capabilities. Tozer has the power to go 9's, but hasn't been able to. Here in Chicago, Marko Djuric went 9.80's with less power and an automatic. Larry Prebis has gone 9.54 with 892hp and an automatic. I believe the 10-second times Tozer has posted are his old numbers. Hopefully he will stop making excuses and lay down some 9-second runs with the new turbo and nitrous. We are all waiting...
- FYRARMS on Thursday, October 31, 2002
|
I agree with FYRARMS. This car is definetly capable of running low 9's on the bottle and with some drag radials. There are two parts for a good race, the car and the driver. The car is there, now it just needs a good driver.
- an0therlvl on Thursday, October 31, 2002
|
True, most of the time it's the driver.. but all in all an awesome car =)
- SSexay on Friday, November 01, 2002
|
This supra is a very nice car and why wouldnt it be right there with the vett and the viper? 6cyl vs 8 cyl vs 10 cyl ... they all have around the same horse power... but its a drivers battle and also... ever heard of Power to weight ratio?... err a light car can run 10s with half the power of these guys. But why dont we respect that these are ALL nice cars and we all just invaei their performance. And a carshow winning sterio system doesnt weigh 30lbs... unless its a car show hosted by KB Toystores and only thing aloud was Fisher-price.. err ya.. 1 "nice" sub can be up to 100lbs...
- JDMs1eeper on Friday, November 01, 2002
|
FYRARMS,i apologise, didnt know you was a supra driver.i think the supra vs vette vs viper would be a good race

what kinda rear gears do supras have? do gears help supras on the high end or is it just the power of the turbos?
- NastyZ85 on Monday, November 11, 2002
|
3.27 six speed 3.42 auto are more pop 97-98.Still considered highway gears. Japan's are higher I think but they changed to meet epa in the states.
by no means are slow off the line either. stock 2.0-2.1 60'ft times are not bad.
- IH8GM on Monday, November 11, 2002

Typed too fast. Auto MKIV rear diff is 3.769:1, not 3.69...

this car should definatly run 9's....my theory is that 30% is the car and 70% is the driver when it comes to gettin good numbers on the 1/4 mile

Awesome car Mark.....This is truely a beauty
Supra's have always been one of my favorite cars and this one represents them well....The license plate says it all....One more thing....How much psi are you running?

When I first starting building and driving Supra's I had the quickest BPU Supra in America at 11.14 @ 124mph. That was quite some time ago. At the time my goal for my Supra's was simply a 10 second pass or two and over 600HP. Those goals were exceeded a long time ago and hence the reason why I have not driven a Supra on slicks in over 18 months, is because I don't need to prove a single thing. Drag racing isn't my scene any longer and those that complain about numbers have nothing better to do. Building a drag car is easy to do, but that simply isn't my thing any longer as I met and exceeded every goal I had for the car.
My latest goal for the car was to shatter the World Dyno record for a stock block Supra, which we accomplished at the Las Vegas National Supra Meet in October. Surely with over 1000rwhp on spray the car has 9 second potential with a full stereo, but once again that is no longer my scene.
Thanks to everyone for the compliments on the car, it has been fun.
- Mark Tozer on Saturday, December 07, 2002
|
For the dyno run in Vegas I ran around 32psi on C16 fuel. Driving around the streets of AZ, I run Trick 101 Unleaded which I buy with my Mobil Speedpass at the PUMP 24/7. On 101 I run 28psi ALL DAY LONG.
- Mark Tozer on Saturday, December 07, 2002

Thanks Jack. We enjoy the house and with two kids (one driving), we need the extra space. There is alot more to life than cars, but they sure are a wonderful outlet when you need to have some fun.
- Mark Tozer on Saturday, December 07, 2002
|
Excellent photography. I wonder, how tractable is that engine?
- KnightRT on Saturday, December 07, 2002
|
One of the comments that often comes is what good does it do to have 1000HP if you cannot put it down. I agree! On the street we usually only run around 800HP and from 3rd gear onwards on our concrete freeways it holds pretty well. At 1000HP+ it will hold from 4th gear onwards on our nice roads. It is quite a sight to see a car smoking the tires from a 70mph roll :).
I cannot remember the last time I was lined up at a light with someone worth racing, as it is much easier to get lined up with someone when you are already moving. If at a street light, you simply feather the clutch and work the throttle a bit to stay even with say a 600HP Porsche and then when you have enough tire traction, you just slaughter them :). Hope that answers your question.

All i got to say is, is that ever since i saw ur car mark, all i have wanted is ur car, i saw it first about a year ago and i always wanted supra ever since one destroyed my uncles car in 1995, the lotto right now in florida is 100million and if me or my mom wins it , rest assure that car will be mine, i would pay 100g's for that car if i had it

Mark I've been viewing your site for some time now and I am absolutely in love with Supras because of it. Im just waiting for the right one to come along (and to get the money) in my area so I can buy one. But I was curious about one thing, how come you havn't choose to put a body kit on your car? I must say it looks great without one and again as everyone else has said the car is totally awsome and you have done a great job of tuning it.

Thanks for the compliments. It is just a car, but by far the most enjoyable car I have ever owned. I am not really big on body kits, but if I were to do one, it would probably be the TRD widebody, which is still a Toyota variant.
My daughter isn't up to the task at present of driving a car with this much power, but, who knows in the future. I think we are going to build her a nice turbo car of some sort, just not a crazy Supra to begin with, but it will be special, I am sure.
Once again, thanks for all the compliments, it sure is fun when others enjoy your hobby as much as you do!

It is a single turbo conversion and lag is seriously over-rated in my opinion. At 4500 rpms it has 500rwhp and from there the sky is the limit. You just learn to redrive big turbo cars. This car is retired from drag racing (break too many parts), and will be just a fast street car. Thanks for the compliments everyone, it has been a fun ride.
- Mark Tozer on Monday, January 13, 2003
|
I wanted to thank everyone for making this car the most downloaded video (dyno video) by far for the "featured" rides section.

How in the fuck can you be using stock roda with 970 RWHP !!??

Lingenfelter C5, the car in question did indeed have a 100% stock bottom end (stock crank, stock pistons, stock rods) when it dynoed 902 RWHP (~1060 HP at the crank) these are TOUGH motors, my own 1994 Supra did 786 RWHP on boost and 874 RWHP on NOS also with a 100% stock bottom end as well.
Tupac, nice mature comment.......
Fyrearms, how many 9 second Supras in Illinois or Chicago with a 6speed transmission? None huh?;)

The Supra is my dream car. This car is great. i especially love the license plate. Viper ain't shit compared to this car. Dare I say it can even beat a Ferrari?
- aeyanez on Tuesday, April 01, 2003
|
Amazing Supra w/over 900hp!, It'll top drag races for sure but how well will it do on the track?, the only way to beat these monsters (if your skilled enough) is out on the track or if its out on the streets hope it rains heavy!.. I sure will hope so if I ever encounter one against my 170hp '97 Merc E.. (ay I know I'll still lose though!..ehahh)
- sl73amg on Tuesday, April 01, 2003
|
Yo Tupac I ain't goin to hate on RX-7s engines a 2 rotor can hold about 800-850hp but if u got a 3 rotor engine from japan out of a cosmo u can put 3 turbos on the sucker and ur set but u can run about 950-990hp on it. I'm sayin this because my bro owns a gen 3 rx wth a 3 rotor engine. Plus, i own a 97 twin turbo supra u just mad because them supra engines can run such high horsepower and run and beat some of them skylines. So don't hate. Because u rarely see comparisons with skylines supras and rx-7s.

Mark, I see you are selling the car, why is that? You planning a new bigger project? Its an amazing car and for having the patience and commitment towards your car is great. Could you not do just one or two drag runs, not to prove anything but just to put a low nine (maybe late 8) on the board? Just my 2 cents though.
How much did you put into the car?

- sscamaroluver on Tuesday, June 24, 2003

Chevy engine? please. Jap and Euro engines are the only ones worth modifying.. some american ones are good to start like the Z06 for instance, but hardly any american engines are worth touching aftermarket. Skylines and Supras put up some SICK numbers when they are done right.. i don't know how many 600+ hp supras and skylines i've seen.. but a lot more than 300hp cavaliers :)

First let me tell Mark, that his Supra is awesome is every aspect, and 902 wheel horsepower just makes it's all the more better. Nice Job man, keep up the good work. And now let me address the fact that someone actually compared this car to a funny car?!?! Let's look at this logically, Tozers Supra can and probably is driven on the street. It doesn't run on $50/gallon Nitro Methane, and a awseome example of a great sportscar, done right. Now if anyone out there has seen a fuel car driving around on the street, let me know. I hate it so much when people bring racecars into the picture with street cars. NHRA drag racing is cool, but street legal cars that pull off low e.t.'s on street tires will always intrigue me. Great Job Mark!!!
- whiteboy on Monday, July 28, 2003

Tozer drove his car all the time. Its the same car he brings his daughter to school in. Pretty impressive, just load it up with a little Trick 101 and it'll thrash just about anything and everything on the roads today. As much as I love American muscle, this has no comparison. Tozer, ever loaded it up with a little 116 Octane??

Much respect Mr Tozer. You have created something that mots of us are unlikely to personally aspire to. The car is a madly modified, but very tasteful masterpiece. If I may have my say, the tints look a little over the top. And I would have looked elsewhere for stereo parts, but Im sure you certainly know what makes a decent engine, as is shown here before us today. Many thanks for, quite frankly, giving us all a BIG boner ;-)

I dont know if imports are the best? I drive a 91 mustang gt but i have to say 900 plus horsepower on 6 cylinders is just insane. great job.

Once again thanks to everyone for the kind comments. My car now has a new owner in the former Soviet Union! Look for it on the streets of Kazakhstan!!
