Finally. I've been looking for this vid. Thanks for the upload and don't be shy to upload more from this series. HAHA
  - pinoyn619 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
all of the cars are also way better than an M3....
  - ptwaustin on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Yay a WRX in a torque battle, nice.
  - Jerambis on Thursday, May 12, 2005
touge rule!!! be sure two wathc the last formula d on g4 ! they where actually in japan showing the original touge and a ''recreation'' of the touge since its now to busy and too cops crowded to go race/drift there!
  - KingPinnn on Thursday, May 12, 2005
WRX disepoint a little bit. In such a small narrow road a natural born Rally car like the WRX should've been much better. I belive in such a small tight curve/corners the RX7 is the best handling car & should've won, but what does that help if the rotary is lack of power. What surprise me most is how extreemly well an 1.5 ton Skyline handles in such road & corners, it proves not only good on track
  - GTRJack on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Togue > Drifting ... IN A HUGE WAY!!!! This is some real Jap shit and I could watch them battle it out all day long.
  - septer012 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Why does everyone think rotaries can't make power? They can't make tourque.
  - JJB107 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
^^ I was maybe refering more to that. septer012, they was drifting? If you call that drifting then you don't know what real drifting is. WRX is AWD, understeering like that is sure call drifting. They was simply racing, sure RWD slides butt sometime in tight corners & can make look like drifting. Anyway such road condition like this the handling proves it, not the power. Top 2 Nissan is a surprise
  - GTRJack on Thursday, May 12, 2005
They CAN make torque; hp is just a number derived from torque produced at whatever rpm, it's just that when tuned, being "small" two-rotors, their torque bands are usually between 5,000 and 9,000 rpms...a little too high for torque to come on for most of us...now a tuned three rotor on the other hand... :P

<<< Is any one else haveing trouble reading the comments or am I the only one destracted by the G-4 ad on the right???
  - 182rg on Thursday, May 12, 2005
I mean left...... See!!!
  - 182rg on Thursday, May 12, 2005
GTRJack, no I was not saying this video was drifting. I was saying that it is NOT drifting, and that I love when they race on the togue. I'd say the Togue Showdown 2 is probably one of the best vids on this site. I know what drifting is, and I think it's lame thats all I meant.
  - septer012 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
And people are ignorant about rotaries. A 1.3L rotary is similar output to a 2.6L 4 stroke engine. None of the cars in that video were bigger than 3.2L so I wouldn't consider any of them torque monsters in NA form. However, a 2.6L w/ a turbo can be tuned to be very potently torquey albeit on a rotary it's higher in the rev band because it will end up making more HP that way.
  - septer012 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
SUUUPRA ROXX:)
  - CSOCSO on Thursday, May 12, 2005
I've driven my friends white RX7. I must admit I both have love/hate relation to it. I must say the rotary engine is not reliable or as strong as RB or JZ engines. There's something extrodinary about it but there's also something I don't feel right about it. It does high RPM but I feel the power at high RPM is not as quick as high RPM Vtec engine. Anyway the power I vote for RB & JZ engines..

SCRAMBLE BUTTON???? Wft's a scramble button?
  - deeboy on Thursday, May 12, 2005
^^ Its a boost buttom which increases the car by 50 more horsepower..
  - GTRJack on Thursday, May 12, 2005
If these are tuned car then their really is no comparision. It should be whichever car is tuned better. The RX-7 in theory with its low center of gravity, short wheel base and low yaw inertia should be a better challenge but god knows what the other cars have under the hood. When going up hill you need more torque..which you will get from a bigger engine.
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Also I have a video of JDM tuner shoot out at TI curicit and pretty much the only cars in the top spots were GT-Rs, RX-7s and Silvias...suprisingly no supras.
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
with a RX-7 you have a much wider power band to play with which fairs better in road racing...9000 rpms worth. The GT-R is good too. But for high hp applications the rotary is probally not as reliable. But a rotary engine is reliable in close to stock form...have to rememwas concieved as a aircraft engine due to tis reliability. Keeps going when over heated, small and companct. Less moving parts
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Scramble button is most knowingly used in champ car racing?...where you are allow a certain increase in boost. interesting that in Champ cars they dont rely on wastegates due to boost spikes. On the cosworth V8 they actually have 9 seperate throttles. 1 throttle to control boost (before the exhaust) for a more accurate control of boost. besides Any un aurthorized boost spike is a unfair advantage
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
also Tsuchiya doesnt liek rotary cars. This is probally the very few time sI seen him drive on in BMI. He usually drives Nissans, Hondas, Hatchi (AE86) and porsche...almos always. I think this was more of a supjective thing. as for power the power to weight is proally just as similar as the silvia but the engine probally has more higher end power.
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
^^ That's very right. If you gonna tune rotary engine for everyday driving don't do it more then 400 horsepower, more then that you can just wait for something to fail. I've done some reading on the 800 horsepower track spec Daishin-R Nagasaki Skyline GTR you talk about racing at T.I. Circuit. The cars redline is set to 9250RPM if I don't remember wrong, that's pretty good RPM range for an RBmotor
  - GTRJack on Thursday, May 12, 2005
Tsuchiya on FD- "it lacks strokes" lol I laughed so hard when I heard that and it obviously shows he doenst like rotary engines. And another cool moment, "The suspention is too soft. it feels like a american car." lol...orido loves supras although he drives for nissan. His last supra lost to a FD in Tsubya. They sould have gotten a better rotary tuner like RE Ameya, Scoot, or stillway
  - spacemonkey629 on Thursday, May 12, 2005
I may be confusing this with IRL but i thought the boost button on those cars just increasing the fuel pressure, and they rarely use it until they know they have enough fuel to last the rest of the race.
  - gobs3z on Thursday, May 12, 2005
yeah race spec motor...its a pretty small displament engine and I would think it has fairly short strokes. So the power range on a RB can be higher. Ferrari like power band on the FD IMO stock. I would probally prefer a RWD car over AWD but the getrac tranny is bullet proff. Rotary engines enemy is always heat sice exhaust gas are so much hotter...therefor efficentcy and cooling are very important
  - spacemonkey629 on Friday, May 13, 2005
GT-R was my favorite car in that group. In all BMI movies concerning RX-7 they always start out really good and loose steam at the end. But this wasnt as much as a endurence race compared to sever laps at a circuit. FD/silvia would be my second favorite just form looks and impression.
  - spacemonkey629 on Friday, May 13, 2005
kinda disapointed the FD did so bad yet had the fastest secotro time. I guess the suspention needed more tunning. Fastes car on that track yet not good enough to get 1st place. I guess its personal opinions that gets 1st place.
  - spacemonkey629 on Friday, May 13, 2005
My Favorite was the Supra. Damn Skylines those beasts always eating up the road!!
  - buddylee on Friday, May 13, 2005
Where's the s2k?
  - lezin on Friday, May 13, 2005
no evo too...

This is going to be Awesome! Gentlemen, Start your engine
  - FNK on Friday, May 13, 2005
Why no m3 in the video? Worthless...
  - Maciek69 on Friday, May 13, 2005
Damn, no offense but I think some of you read and believe too much from Sport Compact Car and Super Street magazines. They aren't always right with their thinking, explanations and even terminology...anyway, when Tsuchiya said short strokes, he wasn't talking about the rotary engine, he was basically complaining that the suspension didn't have enough travel (it was still set up for tsukuba)
  - F40GTE on Friday, May 13, 2005
god i love skylines, I think the supra would've had better times if they werent constantly drifting in it!! lol.
  - stabbinkabbin on Friday, May 13, 2005
Need more vids like this PLZZZ
  - kukri on Friday, May 13, 2005
F40GTE- I know tsuchyia was talking about the dampening rebound "strokes." I was just jokeing...he cleared it up at the end. Lighten up and have a sense of humor.
  - spacemonkey629 on Friday, May 13, 2005
They should've thrown Tsuchiya's AE86 in there, might have been interesting on the downhill
