pretty much went as I thout it would with the M3 getting smoked by both, too bad there wasnt WS6 vs stock C6 run ... but it think the WS6 would win ... in straignt line.

Definitly looked like the WS6 gave the M3 the advantage off the line but who knows M3 lost either way. I wish they were highway runs instead see what the top end is like.

i agree highway runs are much better. if these were highway runs it would be even worse for the M328 (oops i mean M3). too heavy, no tq. nice GT but not a sportscar like the vette and T/A.

The Vette beat the M3 by barely a car length in a straight line, whoopie doo! What happens when the have to brake and go aorund corners? Straight line drag racing proves very little in my opinion. Go to the Fifth Gear vid, by Tiff & Jason Plato elsewhere on this site. The Vette and Viper struggle around a race track. Only their huge tyres and straight line power make these cars reasonably fast.

i think for the engine size in the vette it does well around the track. lets not forget the vette is american. sure its not a track performer like the m3, but its not what the cars strong point is. im not bashing the m3 on any level believe me, it has 2 less cylinders and almost 3 less liters, but its also not bread from straight line perfomance, yet it does very well when you consider everything.

Sil350, how does the M3 NOT have any torque? 262lb ft from a 3.2 inline 6 is above average for that displacment. The M3 should get raped. A C6 is pumping out 400hp/400lbft, and that was a MODIFIED WS6.

The WS6 and Vette do not pull well out of the line they have alot of wheel spin, ive driven these cars even if you bogg the motor once 1st gear pics up it will spin the tires anyway and most of second gear, thats in a stock form, if you race them on a highway were you want to compare top end power M3 wouldnt stand a chance. Vette is a good track car but not excellent M3 is a good all around car.

The C6 Vette and modded WS6 is definately faster than an E46 M3. No question about that. But you gotta give credit to the underdog Luxury car with its 3.2L Inline-6. It hung with the big boys V8 muscle, and at the end, he still got to drive home in his M3. Faster does not mean its the "Better/Nicer" car.

Hey guys...I made the above video. The M3 and WS6/C6 raced all from the same place. However both the C6 and WS6 let the M3 have the jump. The owner of the C6 just recently picked up the car and is still learning how to launch with stock tires (he is used to DR's) and spun through most of 1st gear. I do have a race or two between the WS6 and the C6. I will get those up here as soon as possible

id rather have an M3, a 3.2L V6 with that much power god that would be fun, fuck a F-body i mean they are powerful and fast, but thats about it...its nothing like an M3 which has a certain degree of luxury, id like to see chevrolet try to make a luxury corvette or some shit, they would fall flat on their asses and mumble like retards...god i want an M3

Nice vid, M3 got owned ha ha ha.
I doubt the M3 could keep up with the C6 through the bends either, i have seen a vid of a Mini Cooper eaisly keeping up with a M3 around track, yet the old c5 Z06 could destroy a race prep'd Lotus elise.

Jake falt the corvette is a luxury car. Its not a stripped race car. Its has on star and all the goodies. And M3's interiors are nice, nicer than a vette's even but its not a f*cking bentley. Its all about bang for buck and the vette wins that battle too. Where is this maciek at? I got a little something for him. How about M-not enough power.

The vette would probably kill the M3 on track too. Hell they hold a g on the skid pad I'm not sure what the M3 holds but I can't imagine its much more. Go with the vette get more for your $.

C6 is bad! M3 is 1st choice, I drivin both and M3 definitely handles better. I wonder what would happen if the M3 had V8 in it?
or if chevy had a 6 in the vette? would Chevy's 6 put out as much power as the M3? probably not!

I've raced a C6 in my M3 several times, and we were neck and neck.
so my M3 is modded a bit (4.1 Gears, headers, etc..) but its a BMW. I see 100's of vettes driving around all day. and maybe 1 M3. The C6 is nice..I would own one also if I could, but M3 is first choice, I dont want to look like everyone else, and drive a vette! Now If it was the C6 Zo6, thats another story...

your all dead wrong. well most of you. the c6 kills the m3 in the 1/4 mile and around the track. everyone needs to stop dreaming the m3 is a track killer. i might feel well and balanced but against the clock a c6 would definately beat an M3. sears point, laguna seca... anywhere. more power, more torque, less weight, better aero, wider tires, larger brakes. the list goes on.

true performance can be measured by power to weight ratio. the vette is lighter and more powerfull. plus its set up to be a track car not just a straight line car. it was tested and devoloped on racing circuits not 1/4 mile tracks. M3 is overrated. its a GREAT gran touring car with awesome performance, its simply not a true sports car. the vette is.

No it doesn't. Not compared to a Z51 based C6. And the C6 looks better than an M3 any day of the week.

How many years does it take the vette to be a good track car? C6 just came out.
For example Nurburgring:
7:50 --- BMW E46 M3 CSL (360 hp & Lighter)
then a lttle ways down:
7:56 ---Chevrolet CorvetteC6(wow its a vette)
then a lttle ways down:
8:22 --- BMW E46 M3 (12/2000)
then a lttle ways down:
8:43 ---Honda Integra TypeR(faster than C5)
8:44 ---Chevrolet Corvette C5

c6 is a hell of a track car. I highly doubt that m3 will beat the c6 in the bends.
1. c6 has more meaty rubber
2. C6 weighs less (3179lbs v 3415lbs)
3. c6 accelerates whole quicker than m3
4. higher top speed
5. brakes quicker
reason m3 might seem quicker around the corner is because it feels very nimble whereas base c6 suspension feels little sloppy but c6 definitely is faster

wex fag... the m3 csl ran on basically racing slicks. vette run on run flats. they suck. as much as GM wants to stick with em they still suck. i know your all kidding when you really think an m3 would beat a c6 z51 around a track. you just dont want to admit the truth.
