whats with the guys in the back...
  - Keithman99 on Sunday, January 08, 2006
pretty sick, a little bit more highway and a couple less passengers and the EVO would have inevitably pulled ahead
  - clayguy on Sunday, January 08, 2006
Just looking at the numbers, it seems as though the Viper should have taken that one especially considering that the EVO had 3 passengers. Is it gearing on the EVO's part, or poor driving on the Vipers part that won that race?
  - matty_baby on Sunday, January 08, 2006
passengers look pretty ghey haha
  - pzzz on Sunday, January 08, 2006
the ams evo is well passed that already. there up to 800+ awhp. they also removed the stroker kit to make it back to a 2.0L and a bigger turbo from a gt35r to a gt42r. they have the record for the fastest no nitrous evo.
  - kmw12508 on Sunday, January 08, 2006
viper baby..
  - vetteskickass on Sunday, January 08, 2006
Well the vipers top was down too. More drag
  - memphis151 on Sunday, January 08, 2006
wow
  - 98tsiawd on Sunday, January 08, 2006
That EVO is pretty much the fastest street car on this site, It kills all, It will be fun to see it kill the new c6 ZO6, It should not be a prob, It smoked the 05 Zo6 w/superecharger etc. With ease,,EVO's Rock
  - dsmbob on Monday, January 09, 2006
Thats pretty sad that an 8 liter v10 with a supercharger only made 668. 668 is a shit ton of power but not for a supercharged steam ship.
  - 73porsche911 on Monday, January 09, 2006
dsmbob u're gay and evos suck...put that much money into somethign else itll pwn as much
  - kukri on Monday, January 09, 2006
kmw12508, as you said, this is is now sporting a GT42, but it is 2.3L. AMS is still tweaking on it and want 900whp out of it before the nitrous. I can't wait to ride in it again!
  - PSR on Monday, January 09, 2006
KUKRI YOU ARE JUST AS GAY FOR SUBMITTING THE SAME OL ARGUMENT THAT WE HAVE ALL HEARD. " PUT SAME MONEY IN THIS AND IT WILL BE JUST AS BAD" WELL THEY DIDN'T THEY DECIDED TO PUT THE MONEY INTO AN EVO AND IT RULES. I PERSONALLY OWN A DSM AND WHEN SOMEONE SHOES LOVE FOR A CAR OR IS A FAN OF A PARTICULAR THERE IS ALWAYS A HATER OUT THERE SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO YELL " YOUR GAY" ETC PLEASE GIVE IT A REST
  - badeddy on Monday, January 09, 2006
Short vid, allright. The EVO is pretty sweet though. I was suprised the more powerful viper didnt pull the EVO, but maybe with top down it would add alot of drag. But also the EVO is lighter too. Props to the EVO cant wait for the 900whp plus evo to be back and on the streets :).
  - shadowchaser on Monday, January 09, 2006
without the tools in the back it woulda been alot closer, lame video anyway
  - Milds3vn on Monday, January 09, 2006
Evos are easily one of the best cars ever made, easily top 10 all time and still one of the outright fastest street cars you can buy, where else can you go and spend $20k and buy a used Evo or $30k new that will walk all over Carreras, Ferraris and Lambos not to mention BMWs Corvette etc... Now in a heads up drag race it may not always come out on top but put it head to head with say a Murcielago
  - Milds3vn on Monday, January 09, 2006
around an autocross course or a tight road circuit and the Evo will stomp it, Top Gear has a video proving exactly that... Clarkson called it the fastest point to point car out there period...
  - Milds3vn on Monday, January 09, 2006
^^The one that Clarkson reviewed was a 400hp version not available in the US (as far as I know). Any other stock EVO would not have a prayer against that Lambo around a track.
  - jake888160 on Monday, January 09, 2006
kmw12508- don't confuse this black car with a stroker to AMS's silver racecar. The silver one is the 800+whp. For god's sake they're not even the same color, shouldn't be hard to keep them separate.
  - clayguy on Monday, January 09, 2006
Ive never been a fan of DSM's. I know some people with some pretty wicked Talons/Eclipeses/Lasers and they are fast but I never cared for the overall feel of DSM's. This all changed the first time I drove a modified Evolution, which currently runs 11.99's. This is one of the few cars available that you can take to the drags and go right to a circuit with. Truly a great all around performer!
  - CivicB18 on Monday, January 09, 2006
DSMBOB i dont know what vid you were watching but i had that vid and seen it several times with the Evo getting a jump and it couldnt pull on the Z06. I dont know if there is any other vid of the two same cars but the one ive seen which is on here they were pretty much neck and neck.
  - karpetcm2 on Monday, January 09, 2006
I love how people sya EVOs own and all that dumb fanboy shit this car is one Evo and is hardly a true reprsentation of Evos in general. How many 800whp DD Evos have you heard of? How many 800rwhp Corvettes and Vipers do you hear of? There are plenty of different types of cars out there that you see on average higher numbers out of them compared to the average Evo.
  - Burnout* on Monday, January 09, 2006
Not to mention that black AMS Evo is a highway queen... it'd be absolute shit on a circuit.
  - Burnout* on Monday, January 09, 2006
Why the Viper owner went with a Paxton God only knows... ProCharger would be a much better unit.
  - Burnout* on Monday, January 09, 2006
Prochargers are bad ass units and id have to agree running into a 800rwhp, awd, fwd or whatever is pretty rare even 600hp. I think lots of people take for granted if you drive a car that just has 350 rwhp its amazing on how fast it picks up speed. I know it doesnt sound alot now a days, its always about driving something fast and you get use to it and want more.
  - karpetcm2 on Monday, January 09, 2006
Yea true Jakey i just watched that vid again your right but even the US Spec Evos wouldn't be that far off the pace. And to the guy comparing cars based on how many cars have huge dyno runs like 800whp, what point does that make because its all how the car puts the power down and makes the best use of the power it makes, it may only need 400hpo to beat a car making 800 (except drag racing)
  - Milds3vn on Monday, January 09, 2006
sometimes i feel as though things dont add up with these miraculous EVOs. Also 36lbs of boost will take its toll on any engine. I applaud the engineering that goes into creating these mega horsepower 4 bangers but i still dont understand the application. The cars make these amazing numbers BUT they sit there and run like shit. Completely streetable 600+ whp would be impressive.
  - ssher1 on Tuesday, January 10, 2006
clayguy, this EVO is now sporting a GT42r as well and making more power then the silver shop car.
  - PSR on Tuesday, January 10, 2006
Let's see how that Evo would've done against one of the Twin Turbo Vipers
  - Ven100 on Tuesday, January 10, 2006
what would you guys say that EVO runs in the 1/4 mile? I was thinking maybe mid 10's @ 140
  - NY330xi on Tuesday, January 10, 2006
I think world record evo is 9.3
  - Blangsto on Thursday, January 12, 2006
Also, don't forget that the viper has a lot more torque than that evo considering it's many liters. So if the evo was at the 638awhp it should have gotton slottered.
  - Blangsto on Thursday, January 12, 2006
slaughtered*
  - Blangsto on Thursday, January 12, 2006
Sorry to post so many times but are you all BLIND? Did you guys not see that the viper had a full car head start and still got pulled on by the evo.
  - Blangsto on Thursday, January 12, 2006
Why do I got to be Gay???Clown!! KARPETCM2, The race between the blown ZO6 and the EVO had 2 runs on the highway and the EVO pulled the Vette both times, at one point the Z06 starts to catch up and them EVO hits full boost and pulls off again. You need to watch it again with open non-bias eyes. I am not gay, you V8 freaks are just sore loosers, that EVO and many others are setting records all over

It does not take much to get an EVO or an AWD DSM to hit 11's and you guys can't deal with it. BTW...The fq400 hp EVO they tested on top gear had the exact same suspension setup as the MR(normal EVO) and the only differance is a little bigger turbo and light tuning, Any EVO with a $500 50trim turbo could beat the Lambo around that track. The EVO is an amazing car, and yes the 4g63 EVO engine is t
  - dsmbob on Sunday, January 15, 2006
and yes the 4g63 EVO engine is the strongest turbo 4 in the world, oil squirters on each piston, oil coolers(stock), the bottom ends are bullet-proof,They can go 200k miles running 20psi,bigger turbo etc.. with no problems, as long as they are tuned properly

Once again the old imports vs. domestic dispute begins.. This place seriously needs a forum where our rant happy people can duke it throughly with eachother and possibly, though unlikely, get back to posting about the video. (just my 2cents)
  - RoadSpike on Monday, January 16, 2006
There are forums here, and a picture section, where you guys can post pics of your sunbirds and civics.
