why no Z06?
  - ssactionls1 on Friday, June 06, 2003
Z06 is not sold in Japan. www.chevrolet.co.jp
  - CV on Friday, June 06, 2003
WOW, the American iron got destroyed in that race. But then again, so did the Ferrari.... heh.
  - Antian26 on Friday, June 06, 2003
No surprise that the Z51 Coupe got own3ed. The same would have happened if they had of sent a Carrera instead of a Turbo. The Z06 has a sport suspension and wider tyres, more powerful engine, more sporty transmission ratios and less weight - the Z51 Coupe doesn't.
  - RC45 on Friday, June 06, 2003
I did not think that the EVO could keep up like that.. But that little thing is beyond great... Thank's for putting this Video O-ACE..
  - alowais on Friday, June 06, 2003
The Z06 would have done much better I'm sure. I think the C5 did a great job. Oh well, maybe next time we will see the Z06. The driver still praised the Vette, even though it lost. That was cool.
  - 92Cam on Friday, June 06, 2003
I am downloading at 520kb...already grabbed 45MB, only 30sec more to go...can't wait to see this vid...
  - P993TTS on Friday, June 06, 2003
Damn that was a great race. The GTR and EVO were on that porsche like a fly on sh*t. Very impressive.
  - WRXPWR on Friday, June 06, 2003
yea cool video, but just a normal vette chezzy against the 360 ferrari, r34 GTR shhh just a normal vette z51 ohhhh just some suspension , yes the z06 what have been way up there with the 911 turbo. Would have been better but that was still sweet!
  - DR.GONZO on Friday, June 06, 2003
I cant get this damn thing to download!
  - NetViper on Friday, June 06, 2003
I dont know how well versed those drivers are in left hand drive cars....
  - vsaint on Friday, June 06, 2003
ummmm..the porsche won. And I don't think I need to tell you that they are made in germany, not Japan.
  - WRXPWR on Friday, June 06, 2003
I think the EVO VII RS has 320 HP (i read it online). The Skyline MUST be pushing close to 400 HP to keep up with the Porsche on the straights. The NSX did well, but it would have done great with a SC on there. The vette sucked. The ferrari didn't do too hot either, which is surprising.
  - NetViper on Friday, June 06, 2003
you cant just put a chip in an evo and make it be a ton faster than stock...with a turbo car on stock exhaust, there isnt much you can do to make it that much faster than stock. The evo runs 19 psi stock if i remember correctly. The 16g turbo used in EVOs is most efficient right around 20 psi, so they couldnt even turn the boost up a little bit to give an advantage
  - 98tsiawd on Friday, June 06, 2003
To say one driver is faster than the other is really wrong. BM has been around for over 15 years, all the drivers appear in BM has great achievement in race series in japan. In other words, not just any jap professional will be invited to participate. Their resumes are impressive.
  - CV on Friday, June 06, 2003
And again, Z06 is not being sold in Japan, Z51 is the top model from dealership (except for the anniversary edition)
  - CV on Friday, June 06, 2003
About putting the best driver in the slowest car....the "old guy" was driving the 996TT....everybody argue foul play and said he was the best when (in another video) he held off a Murcielago with a NSX-R....
  - CV on Friday, June 06, 2003
um.. 98tsiawd.. maybe u should check out www.evolutionm.net and read up on what ECU tuning can do to a stock EVO.. ;) personally, i went with piggyback systems on my EVO8 instead (i like making my own adjustments).. but it's the same thing.. and it's now very clear that without any other mods, purely modifying the specs of the ECU on the EVO's can pull out as much as 50hp on pump gas! =)
  - spooldswede on Saturday, June 07, 2003
If only the full vid was presented, the cars were also tested for 1/4 mile, which just clearly shows the hp difference...btw, weight and hp are not the only factors in circuit racing....
  - CV on Saturday, June 07, 2003
one left nut: US supra has a bigger turbine....GTR has dynoed to have 330hp at crank at the most....try to find the 1/4mile race of this video (from kazza or rf.com) and you will see
  - CV on Saturday, June 07, 2003
spooldswede, that was kinda my point, you cant just put a chip in and make it a ton faster. 50 hp max gain from a chip is a pretty significant number, but would require some fine tuning. On a race track, 50 hp difference isnt going to make a car have a drastic change in lap times.
  - 98tsiawd on Saturday, June 07, 2003
first of all, vettes are the shit, they are awsome, secind, this race had to be riged, a lancer and skyline tyed? a nsx out eccelerating a c5?? a ferrari loosing that bad??? and third, these japanese guys are the funiest people keep redoing 5:54 (time) the guy is like kudedaaaa!!! lol and their are other parts
  - philjr on Saturday, June 07, 2003
philjr: 1. You really don't know what a Evo can do on track, try to find (or buy) other BM videos and you'll see...2, what part of the video showed nsx out accel a vette?
  - CV on Saturday, June 07, 2003
Best Motoring is cool, Skyline is fast though
  - skylinegtr_vspec on Sunday, June 08, 2003
yeah a z06 beat a 911 targa on a track in a R&T comparison. Z06 had a 1:36 lap time and 911 targa had a 1:40 lap time. A turbo is a lot quicker than a 911 targa, but thats not to say it would be faster than the z06...it would probly be close
  - 98tsiawd on Sunday, June 08, 2003
This kind of video are really cool to watch, we dont see enough of race like this, but yes i think some car present in this race can do better. thanks for the vid anyway..so cool

i really dont think that anything was rigged here. The vette finished in the right place. A c5 corvette would not be able to keep up with a 911 turbo. This video showed that the JDM cars could keep up with a 911 turbo. The vette wasnt that far back really, it was running 4 second slower lap times, which isnt really that much slower. If a Z06 were used, it would probly be right up in the front
  - 98tsiawd on Monday, June 09, 2003
i cant get the video to work i mean its goin but theres no picture just the sound
  - ewokacn on Monday, June 09, 2003
the limit is an agreement, but just because the company claims it only has 280, doesnt mean it cant have more.
  - 98tsiawd on Monday, June 09, 2003
for the 100th time, US spec supra has bigger turbo...also the gentlemen agreement is fading away as we speak
  - CV on Monday, June 09, 2003
the 280 HP agreement is crap. I have talked with Japanese tuners before on this matter and stock R34 skylines will put down over 320HP yet they are rated at 280. They might as well put in a spedo that reads 180Km/hr..and tell the public yeah this car will only do 180Km/hr. Yeah right BS.
  - WRXPWR on Monday, June 09, 2003
powersteiner, Z06 too burly for these cars? Z06 has 405 hp. The porsche has 420 and is AWD. I would still bet that the porsche would win. Now in a straight line or top speed then the result might be different. The porsche has better handling and more power so I'd go with the porsche any day on a track.
  - WRXPWR on Monday, June 09, 2003
yeah their is defanentaly sumthing fishy bout this, and to that guy- no i havent seen an evo on the track b4, and is this the version thats out in america w/like 276 hp or sum like that?? you guys don't make sence..lol..its just that a lancer is basically a tall, skinny economy car, and an evo is just a trick setup... how can it out handle a car that does over 1.g...
  - philjr on Tuesday, June 10, 2003
stock on the skid pad and is arouns 3-4 ft high??? and is MUCH WIDER??? and if JDM is an aftermarket group, then they shoulda got lingenfelter in this race to even it up abit??? am i right?? it WOULD OWN NE CAR!!! id hafta tell ya the #'s its all oround the web, but i will neway..lol...sub 9 sec quarter miles, IT WHEELYS, 1.97 sec 0-60, well over 1.00 G on skid pad, lowered..uh, yeah..lol
  - philjr on Tuesday, June 10, 2003
Knight: I'm not too sure that the vette has better lateral grip. The figures I found show that the vette pulls .90gs and the porsche pulls .96gs. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also having AWD allows the driver to enter and exit the apex of a turn on a track much faster that a RWD car. The only advantages that I have experienced in a RWD car over an AWD car is top end because of the extra tire resistanc
