Two marvels of engineering I'll never own.Sick puppies...did I hear "152 around the corner"?Seems the Turbo had a bit more pull in those higher gears but nice runs.Is that ZOSICK's car?

Close race, but the porsche was faster without any doubt.....the only times the viper would win was when he got a jump-start on it.

WOW, that was NICE... Seriously high speed on the highway. I love when the cameraman catches the speedometer. 150 miles per hour in one of the races. Very impressive I'll say again!

My friend has a 01 Viper GTS and its incredible but its still a Dodge. Little things on the car break all the time. Its a great idea with the wrong company manufacturing it.

Porsche all the way. Yes the Viper did get a bit of a jump on the first race. Yes the Viper is a cheaper car, but it's still a dodge. Don't get me wrong, sweet car.. but seems like every time one is put through a real test on a closed loop by car mags and such, the damn things blow a water pump or something of the sort.

Pretty Nice, but what happened to the larger size videos!?? Those are the only ones we care about!! unless they are super super good! heh

thats true, but i always thought tha tiptronic would be MUCH faster because i thought i was the same tranny, just electricaly actuated. A normal driver shifts take about 1-2 seconds, the tiptronic takes like 3 milliseconds...so idk how the tiptronic could be slower...

Lets get a few things straight... The Porsche is only 3.6lt capacity, so it does extremely well even with turbo's when placed against a V10 of Viper capacity. Also, the Tip S shift in the Porsche only loses .7 of a sec to 62.5mph (4.2/4.9 respectively) - if you can tell the difference between that, you are doing extremely well. Also, if you can shift manually as quickly as the tip-shift, congrats!

Wow- it's sad how little you people know about cars. (a) do you ever even go open tracking? (b) do you even know how to heel-toe downshift? (c) do you even know that A TIPTRONIC IS JUST A MANUALLY-SHIFTABLE AUTOMATIC?!?!?! Eg- there's STILL a torque converter which saps power ... the only TRUE "semi-automatic manuals" -- eg, clutchless, are Ferrari F1, Lambo, Aston(?), and maybe a few others.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a dealer in N. America for the Skyline R34 GTR V-Spec?

It's funny how people bitch and moan about the size of the engine and what you can do to it and say that's how you determine the racing characteristics of the car. When you have the engine, you don't even have half of the neccessary equipment to make it a good race car...btw, so what if you can go straight fast... where does that get you.. into the ditch, fast, that's where.

Alawton-
Well said. Coincides with my earlier msg: I think the majority of people on this board are just "boy racers" who just care about "Fast & Furious"-style "racing." As I've always said, racing's not racing unless it's got corners. You guys want to talk real driving, check out www.corner-carvers.com. Esp good for CA residents.

well, run that against the Gemballa Evo 750...on a track, as is proper...(for the younger kids here, so that you can test all aspects of the car, from accl. to braking, to suspension, to tires...etc.)

ooops, that was meant for corvett_viper (the 12 years old), forgot to click on the "view all comments"...=)

I saw a gembella 750 here in the states. Took the guy six months to get it legalized. But OH MY GOD that was one wicked porsche. Sounded like a fukn F1 car and he roasted the tires at 70 mph for me :-))). Porche is definatly classier but the viper is a bit more cost effective IMO.

Actually a stock 2002 911 turbo only runs 12.4 sec 1/4 mile. A stock 2002 Corvette Z06 runs a 12.5 1/4 mile. The top speed of the 911 is 20mph higher than the Vette. But the Vette has a better skidpad 'g' rating. So I wouldn't say one is inferior to the other.

That video was pretty badass... I like the color/rims of that Viper... were either of the cars modded?

The Viper sounds like it has the standard smooth intake tubes, roller rockers, different cam, and exhaust. The Porsche would need a chip to keep up. I would imagine both are running 550-575 HP. Both are very fast and depending on air temp, either could pull on either. That is my $.2.
